Hello, my name is Rosie Baird. I design and make Kosi Pogies  at home in Eyemouth, a small fishing town in the Scottish Borders. Helped by my trusty Antique Treddle Singer Sewing Machine with Zero Carbon Emissions and a good tonic for my circulation too.

I started my small business designing and making Kosi Pogies in 2015. I had recently retired from teaching Home Economics for some 35 years and a paddler for many years.

My first paddling trip on the River Balvaig in 1982. I paddled a Dancer.  I was a teacher helper/complete beginner helping to guiding a group of pupils down the river. In the days  before all the health and safety rules but it was a great adventure and all survived. 

I was hooked, and I looked for as many paddling opportunities I could. Joining clubs and learning the paddling skills and taking out students for some paddling fun and games. I now continue to have as many paddling adventures on rivers, seas and Lochs as I can. I am a White Water Kayaker, Canoeist, Sea Kayaker and fairly recently SUPer. I am a level 2 coach and Canoe Leader. Always on the lookout for the bombproof roll 😱😱😱 which does sometimes rear its head.

I am also a Duke of Edinburgh  Supervisor  and Expedition Leader. During the summer months I volunteer and lead Duke of Edinburgh groups , canoeing and camping out for their awards. Great fun introducing teenagers into the paddling world and watch then turn into hippies on their expeditions as they travel down the river. 

 Along with fellow paddlers I  was disillusioned with the choice of pogies on the market and felt I could improve the design and give paddlers a wider choice. I like to paddle all year round. Rivers can be at their best in winter when it is a bit chilly. I started the business to keep me busy on non paddling days when the rivers are rising.

Kosi Pogies are made from super lightweight, wind and waterproof DWR (durable water resistant) 6oz PU Nylon with a silver pigment lining which reflects heat in hands keeping them cosy on the coldest paddles. 

All double stitched for extra strength. One size fits all.

Kosi Pogies attach to the paddle shaft with a velcro fastening and you slip hands inside the wide cuff and hold the paddle with bare hands.  Good for  connectivity . Whatever your paddling style there is a Kosi Pogie for you. Single blade, double blade, Greenland paddle on request.

Gauntlet style is longer and warmer as fits over cuff clothing. I use mainly on the sea and flat water.

Short Marathon style with a stiffened cuff works great in the white water as so easy to slip hand in and out of the cuff if in a wee bit of a hurry.  Great for handsignals or fixing Go Pro.

Add Hi Vis tape for night time adventures if you like at checkout with a small extra cost.

Kosi Pogies has the widest choice of colours and colour combinations. But if your colour choice is not listed please ask.
